SÍLVIA BALEA
With a degree in Arts, Silvia Balea is currently the cultural and audiovisual cooperation partner of the Institut français du Portugal. She was a journalist, translator and literary critic during the 1980s. From 1990, she switched from writing to film making. She was the director of the mythical Latina cinema in Paris and was responsible for the cinema program of the Latin Union, the only international forum that brought together the Portuguese-speaking, French-speaking, Spanish-speaking, Italian and Romanian.
Promoting the cinema of the neolatin world in France for at least twenty years, Silvia Balea directed the debut of more than 500 titles and the organization of 150 film festivals. In this context, she worked with dedication in the circulation of Portuguese cinema in France and hosted in his rooms many Portuguese directors and actors:. Canijo, João Botelho, Teresa Villaverde, Pedro Costa, to name just a few.
She was also curator of cultural seasons at the Institut français de Paris and advisor for the cultural diversity of the Office of Minister of Culture Frédéric Mitterrand.
She is currently contributing with enthusiasm to the Franco-Portuguese cultural dialogue.
